There are generally two types of students that lack coordination.
1. Student is able to see that their body is uncoordinated in a movement, but does not know how to remedy the problem.
2. Student is simply unaware of the problem.
In either scenario you need to start slow, create markers for arm and body positioning, relate the movements back to use of the floor and then work on transitions.
Often students blur movements into one another instead of making movements distinct. The key is to treat each styling or movement as its own entity and then work on the transitions between. This is true for an uncoordinated beginner as much as an advanced dancer.
